Christopher Capone is the direct grandson of the most notorious gangster in history, Al Capone -America’s first public enemy number one. Chris is a native of New Jersey, with a home in Manhattan as well as taking up past residence at his grandfather’s original famous Miami estate on Palm Island, where the legendary Al Capone died.
As you could imagine, Chris’s childhood was nothing ordinary –while growing up, there was a veil of secrecy that surrounded his life. His father was always traveling and Chris and his sister were victims of abuse and neglect from their mother, who lived in fear and perhaps was attempting to safeguard her children from their family’s true identity. Chris’s father was his rock, but when he would leave home, Chris and his sister were beaten, occasionally stabbed with knives, neglected and even forced to “hock jewelry for food.” Growing up, their house felt more like a prison as it was encompassed by a menacing chain-link fences and a guard dog, they were forbidden to interact with any of the neighboring kids outside the small family compound.
Before Chris’s father passed and shortly thereafter his father’s death, Chris’s life changed; Chris discovered that his father was living a secret identity. Chris was faced with the fact that his childhood was a lie and at that moment, Chris began an unbelievable investigation into the mysterious Capone family to piece together his own true identity. Chris’ shocking and intriguing journey drove him to write his page-turning memoir Son of Scarface. Chris’s goal and inspiration for his memoir is to inspire others to have strength, courage and know when to seek help in life. In order to increase child abuse awareness, Chris donates a percentage of his book proceeds to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
This traumatic life experience is the foundation of the caring, loving and hilarious character that Chris exudes today. He spends his free time helping others who have grown up in similar situations, volunteering for various non-profits fighting to prevent child abuse. Contrary to the stereotypical tough mobster Capone persona, Chris is a homosexual and also encourages support for many gay and lesbian charities.
Here you can follow Chris on his blog that has a constant following of his daily life, which will translate his natural strength of humor into comedy. Chris has an MBA from Suffolk University, a degree in accounting from Rider University and has been featured and interviewed on numerous television and radio shows, Vanity Fair and various print media around the globe.
